Crusoe is not interested in taking a career in law as his parents wish. He instead sets sail from their home in Queen's Dock in Hull for a sea voyage in 1651, August. Despite the fact that his journey has many obstacles he still able to sail again even after his ship is wrecked in a storm because of his love for the sea. After some time Crusoe joins an expedition for bringing slaves from Africa. In one of those expeditions, his ship is wrecked and all the people die except him. He is left with two cats, a dog, and a few farm tools. He abandons the ship and decides to build a home near a cave where he grows barley, hunts and does other farm work to sustain him. He has a wooden cross, which he uses as a calendar for marking what he does every day. Years after staying in the island, he realizes that some cannibals come to the island to haunt and kill prisoners. At first, he wants to kill for the wrongs that they do but he realizes that the cannibals do not commit the abomination knowingly. Crusoe is able to get a companion when he rescues a freeing prisoner whom he names Friday. He is able to teach the prisoner English and convert him Christianity. During a party of the natives in a cannibal feast, Crusoe and Friday are able to kill many natives and free two prisoners. Ono of the prisoner is a Spaniard while the other is Friday’s father. The Spaniard tells the two that a Spaniard ship is wrecked in the mainland and they decide to go rescue them and build a ship to help them sail to a Spanish port.


Before the Spaniard and the Friday’s father return, an England ship appears which helps the two to travel to England. Upon reaching England, Crusoe learns that his father did not leave anything for him in his will because they thought he was dead. However, his farm in Brazil has been able to accumulate lots of wealth. He transfers his wealth to England because he does not want t keep on traveling in the sea. Despite the problems that Crusoe encounters in life, he is able to achieve what he wants. He is able to travel through different seas something that he loved. This shows all the people should be focused in what they want. This is only achievable if one is committed and consistent. Crusoe does not forsake his friend, Friday and they travel together in the journey to Lisbon. On their way back, they meet the last adventure where they have to fight a pack of wolves. Crusoe has accomplished his mission of exploring the sea but he settles in England in the end.
